Russell has over 32 years of experience in energy and chemical consulting with expertise ranging from energy and chemical market analysis, forecasting, and investment analysis. Currently as Senior Director of Consulting at IHSMarket providing companies the information and insight needed to support their decision making processes. Current focus is on helping clients understand their competitive position in the industry and see how that will change over time as new competitors, new technologies and market dynamics impact their business.
Before joining IHSMarkit, Russell held key positions with other chemical and energy consulting companies and worked on a wide variety of projects covering many areas of the hydrocarbon supply chain. While at SRI Consulting he lead the Process Economic Program which publishes independent technical and economic reviews of existing and new technologies that are in development. At IHSMarkit Russel helped to leverage this information with other resources to develop detailed cost curves for most of the major large volume chemicals used in the world.
Russell has a passion for science and technology and has long been concerned about climate change. While at SRIC he launched a Carbon Footprint Program which provided estimates on the emissions from the different process technologies used in the chemical industry and the ability to examine the sources at each process step to identify key areas for improvement.
Russell holds a BS in Engineering and a MBA from Rice University and is a retired professional engineer in the state of Texas.
