Dr. Jauad El Kharraz, CEO of WECEN, is a globally recognized expert in water management and desalination with over 25 years of experience. He served as Executive Director at the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (Egypt, 2015-2020), Director of Research at the Middle East Desalination Research Center (Oman, 2015-2020), Projects manager at the Euro-Mediterranean Water Information System (France, 2004-2015) and is a desalination expert at FAO. Dr. El Kharraz has been a senior consultant for prestigious institutions, including the European Commission, UN-ESCWA, and PRIMA, and is a member of the European Desalination Society, International Desalination & Reuse Association, Mediterranean Water Institute, Water Positive, and Oman Water Society. He is also Vice President of the Water Embassy (France) and co-launched Oman Humanitarian Desalination Challenge in 2018.
Dr. El Kharraz has coordinated multimillion-euro international projects EU, GIZ, SIDA, and USAID. He has authored countless scientific papers, policy briefs, and led training and mentorship programs. A frequent speaker at global events like the World Water Forum and COP conferences, he holds MSc and PhD degrees in Physics from the University of Valencia (Spain), and a diploma from SKEMA Business School (France).
